Physics
I can understand that Physics can be complicated and how readily it takes up every ounce of brain power that you possess, but in my Physics class all I can say is “What the fuck….” Let me explain why that is so. Like any normal Physics class we draw diagrams, label the forces, solve problems, et cetera. The main difference between every other Physics class and my Physics class is that my professor likes asking us open ended questions where you can assume so much and then find out later that everything you spent time assuming and calculating based on those assumptions is completely WRONG.
An example of this is the following. This was part of one of my test questions:
“Give a critical thinking analysis of your results and suggest a way MacGyver would use this information to help him out of a sticky situation (note: 1N = .225 lb).”
OK?????
1. Who the hell is MacGyver?
2. Why am I critically analyzing my results when the numbers tell you everything? This is not English.
3. Again, who the hell is MacGyver?
So I drew my picture, labeled the parts and all that, and solved the problem using Physics. Then I stumbled upon the aforementioned problem and was stumped. I honestly don’t know why I would be asked a question about someone I don’t know about.
On a more worldly oriented note, I thought there were cultists running around today. Then I remembered it was Ash Wednesday. So with that in mind, what did you guys give up for lent?
